the fourth video i’ve made documenting my time here
i haven’t updated this in ages because i’ve been crazily busy. this week is my last week here in San Jose before I go off on my last month of adventures!
need to update this more but i’m feeling lazy, in the mean time, i got a hair cut and dye today. it took over 4 hours to do but it was definitely worth it :)
Bit behind on updating my travel blog so I will just give an overview of the rest of that week. I spent the next few days editing wedding photos, updating the blog and practicing music with Millhows. That weekend we shot two weddings, a gorgeous wedding of a Russian couple at a winery and then a really fun Filipino couple who had 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen!
(i should really try and update this more often because i feel like i’ve forgotten half of what i’ve done already!)
On Sunday I spent the evening hanging out with Devin and we recorded a cover of Bob Marley - Could You Be Loved which I will put up here once it is finished! I feel so lucky to have met such wonderful and creative people that I can spend time with and create things with and get my music fix as well as my photography fix while I am here.
The next week was one of the best I’ve had since being here. I met some truly amazing people and I feel like my lucky streek of everything being amazing has continued and blossomed and I couldn’t be happier!!! Living my life with a grab each opportunity attitude and just going for it with everything I do seems to be working. Since the start of my last month at University, everything has been incredible and things just keep getting better and better and better!!!!! But anyway, this week I;
Thursday evening was by far the best evening of the week! It started off at Esther’s where her housemate Ryan made taco’s for Taco Thursday. I met Ryan’s friend Paul who had the most incredible stories to tell about when he worked as Marilyn Manson’s PA for 6 months and also got to travel the world while working for American Apparel.
After dinner, we headed to Good Karma to go and watch Glen and Devin perform live sets. I will be making a new video soon with clips from both of their shows! After hanging out for a bit and dancing in the cafe to Devin’s music, I headed over to Caravan (another venue down the road) to watch Millhows and his band Dirty Pillows play. He introduced me to his friend Jacqui and her boyfriend. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone so lovely and genuine as Jacqui and after chatting to her I learned she is an amazing soul singer too! Millhows and I asked her if she would be up for doing an open mic with us and yesterday we made it happen!
Chapter 3. The third video I made of my time here in California.
I studied Fine Art! I found the course helped me to grow as a creative thinker and become an ‘informed practitioner’ rather than actually teaching me basic artistic skills. The course was 40% art history and it ran from 1900- present day so it was all very interesting and relevant to a lot of the work my friends and I were creating. So we attended art history lectures and had to write a 10,000 word dissertation in our final year and we also attended two, 3 hour art practicals a week where we would get one on one tutorials with the tutors and get on with our own thing too! The studios were 24 hour access to all art students so we could go in whenever we wanted :)
